the people of the deer

Per Cent for Art commission | St Joseph’s National School, Borris in Ossory. This work illustrates Borris-in Ossory’s ancient townland in Kingdom of an Osraige which translates as ‘The People of the Deer’. Its border lands were the River Suir to the west and south, the River Barrow to the east and the Slieve Bloom Mountains to the north. The piece measures 4m x 2m and is made of native Irish woods and powder coated aluminium figures in a bright work of contrasting textures and colours which will appeal to the primary school pupils and root them in their local history.
